Old Dominion Baseball began operation in the Spring of 2005. The Old Dominion Baseball League (ODBL) has quickly expanded to several age groups, as well as beginning to expand throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The league was started to help travel and local league tournament teams to have a place to play some of the best teams in the area, play for points and a championship, and to prepare the ODBL teams for local, state and national tournaments.
The season fees for ODBL ($300) go toward the following costs:
* Umpire scheduling/re-scheduling fees.
* Rental of end-of-season tournament fields & maintenance items (e.g. marking lime, etc)
* Trophies and medals.
* ECTB & USSSA sanctioning fees for the league and end-of-season tournament.
* Misc. fees (such as league website, game scheduling, etc).
So, for $300, plus app. $1000 in umpire fees throughout the season, you get as many USSSA and ECTB points as 4 major tournaments ($500 x 4 = $2000).
